Counselling can help us deal with our HIV diagnosis. It can help us come to terms with being HIV positive, get control over our lives and move on.
Counsellors can help us work through issues relating to disclosure, sex, relationships and how to live with HIV.
They can also give us more information about other services and information they think would help us.
Counselling generally runs for a specified period of time. At Terrence Higgins Trust this is for12 weeks.
It’s possible to get counselling in a number of ways:
To find a counselling service, you can call THT Direct on 0845 12 21 200.
Otherwise you can look for different kinds of services on our main website's local services area, or ask at your HIV clinic or local HIV organisation.
